Electronics circuits on a chip perform a variety of functions.

How do you see what electronic circuits are doing, with a Oscilloscope, it shows the waveform of the component under test.

What tools do you need to have to do basic electronics, that is to maybe put a kit together.

An electronics kit, now because if it is children doing soldering, regardless they need an adult, who knows what they are doing to supervise them.
It is a soldering iron and the dangers of using it, mainly very hot, to melt the solder.
The soldering iron on the right is a temperature-controlled soldering station, now even though you do not need to spend this much money on one of these to start with, I recommend you save your dollars to buy one, as they are the best way to go,
Components come with legs that need to be cut off once inserted, and soldered into place on the PCB, (Printed circuit Board) you will therefore need a pair of side cutters to do this, these need to be a small set, or they will be difficult to use.
